    Fructose is a natural sugar found in a variety of foods such as fruit, honey and vegetables. It is regarded as a simple carbohydrate with a low Glycemic Index rating between 35 and 45. Its low rating on the GI scale means Fructose is digested over a prolonged period of time resulting in a less profound impact on blood sugar when compared to Dextrose or Maltodextrin. It is generally regarded that the body can only absorb around 60g of glucose per hour due to limited transport systems in the body's digestive system. However, Fructose does not convert to glucose for digestion but passes directly through the intestine wall. Therefore, combining Fructose with other carbohydrates allows you to absorb more carbohydrates per hour and potentially increase your energy levels further. One of the major advantages of supplementing with Fructose is its high level of carbohydrates without the insulin spike as seen with Dextrose or Maltodextrin.
